Flex Drawer - Simple Roast Chicken

The very first thing I wanted to cook when my new Ninja Flex Drawer arrived was a roast chicken. The huge tray on this model is a game changer. In this video I’ve kept things simple resulting in a succulent traditional roast but you could spice things up, the possibilities are endless .

Ingredients

Large Whole Chicken

2 Onions

2 carrots

3-4 stalks of celery

1 lemon Juice of half

60 ml (1/2 cup) olive oil

Black pepper

Method

Peel and roughly chop the vegetables (onion, carrot and celery)

Make some lemon pepper oil by cuting the lemon in half and adding the juice of one half to a small bowl (cut the remaining half a lemon into rough chunks and add to the vegetable mix).

Add olive oil to the lemon juice and a good amount of ground black pepper. Stir to combine.

Place the vegetable/lemon mix into the tray of the Flexdrawer.

Place whole chicken on top and drizzle over the Lemon Pepper oil.

Select MEGAZONE on your Ninja Flexdrawer (or other Air fryer). Choose Roast and set to 190C/375F and cook until chicken is cooked through (approx 60 mins).

TOP TIP, Flip the chicken over after about 25 mins to stop the top burning and then back over for the last 10 mins to ensure the skin is crisp.

Remove the chicken from the tray and allow to rest. If you want you can make a simple “cheats” gravy by blitzing up the veg with some ready made gravy.
